I recently had the pleasure of working on creating a startup within a 150 year old legacy company. Each day we tried to incorporate some moments of mindfulness to generate group empathy and allow the participants to stay focused on the challenge of launching a new platform in the space of 4 weeks. One of the most interesting challenges of this was working with individuals from 5 different cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Some simple reflections… different cultures have different levels of knowledge and acceptance of such practices within the working day, the challenges of language are actually minimized as people seek to engage with each others emotions and if misunderstandings occur a healthy dose of humor can help.
